    Hi guys,

    Can you help me please?

See the development site mentioned below.

My client wants a large full width image on the bottom of each page, for the whole site. She wants to change this every season, so it should be easy maintenance. I have inserted the background image (1280×640 px) in theme options footer and through CSS (in child theme) I set a fixed height (640 px) for the footer. In this way, my client only has to change the bg image of the footer in theme options when she wants.

This all looks good on large pc screen and more or less ok on a tablet, however it doesn’t look good at all on small mobile screens (in portrait view). It only shows a small part of the center of the image…

Is there a way (CSS?) to get this image responsive, so that it shows full screen width (and 100% height) on all devices?

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards,
    Monique

    Hey Monique,

Maybe you could try to use a media query to set a different image as a background on mobile devices? https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_mediaquery.asp

    Hi Rikard,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes I could do that, however that is not really easy maintenance for my client. Or I would need scripts to set in which periode which image will be shown. Still whenever she wants to change an image in the system (and I am sure next year she wants to…) she can’t do it by herself.

If you have an alternative suggestion I am interested to hear, otherwise I will suggest to not display the footer on mobile.

    Regards,
    Monique

    Hi,

Well, the suggestion is to hire a freelance to accomplish this to facilitate this process to your client. You can find it here: kriesi.at/contact/customization

    Hi John,

I don’t think that hiring a freelance would solve the issue of making this easy maintenance for my client, nor do I believe that this issue is so important for them that they want to spend money on this. We have decided to not display the footer on mobile.
