    Hello,

    I’ve just purchased Enfold, installed it on a fresh development install of WordPress, and have been spending some time playing with the dummy content, searching here and elsewhere for examples, and starting to build our company’s new site. I haven’t been able to find any examples that do exactly what I’d like to do, so I thought I’d ask here. I would like to make a full width slider for our homepage that shows an image with some overlaid text (title, description, perhaps a “read more” link) that, when the image is clicked, opens a large lightbox containing a YouTube/Vimeo video that auto-plays (similar to the Portfolio AJAX example).

    If it’s possible for this to be made using Portfolio Items, even better, as it would save some duplication of effort and content.

    How can I make this? Thanks very much in advance.

    p.s. If you look at our current homepage at http://usefulmedia.net, you can see the kind of content I’m talking about, the difference being that the current slider has no on-click functionality, just links to other pages (which sucks! we want our work to be immediately playable).

    Hi!

    You can create a portfolio item then look for “Overwrite Portfolio Link setting”, select “Define custom link”. Add the url of the vimeo or youtube video. This should open the video on lightbox when the portfolio thumbnail is clicked.

    Hi Ismael,

    Thanks very much for your reply. I have another related question: is it possible to add Portfolio Items to a LayerSlider? I’d like to be able to able to have a slider on our homepage that is populated by a select few portfolio items (that will also appear within the full portfolio on a separate page).

    Hi!

    Thank you for the update.

    You can try the Dynamic content from posts option of the layer slider. Create a new layer then switch to the Dynamic content from posts. Configure the post options then add the [content] shortcode to render the content of a specific portfolio item.

    Thanks for the tip — it really unlocked the layer slider for me.

    Is there a shortcode for the portfolio item preview text? I’d like to be able to use it in the layerslider rather than [excerpt].

    Hi!

    Unfortunately, no, there is no shortcode for the portfolio items’ preview text. You might need to create portfolio items specifically for the layer slider in order to have more control over the content.
