    Has the process for having Titles and Captions display for background gallery images, ie when one hovers over individual thumbnails, been altered? Or is there a bug here?

    I have uploaded multiple galleries and the Title and Description fields are auto-populating as I upload – in the fields shown in Kreisi’s video tutorials for galleries – and yet they are not displaying on the site.

    See: http://new.dharmaeye.com/galleries/michael-ash-tibet/

    The galleries are set for Info tips to be displayed, both in general for all galleries in settings, as well have manually set on individual galleries, but still not displaying.

    How to resolve? Have title and description display.

    Thank you for the help!

    Hey Michael!

    Afaik Kriesi didn’t update the image uploader recently. You should be able to set the caption/title on the page editor screen: http://www.clipular.com/c/6634909418389504.png?k=qNwCWKCS-mIpsefT5-Or8YcVVd0

    Thank you for the response, Peter!

    Yes, I have seen that section. But in the video tutorials – you know them, yes, for the gallery – it shows them being auto displayed when those fields are filled on upload. The files uploaded have that information embedded, and it is displaying for both title and description on upload, but it is not populating, ie the fields you displayed in your screen capture are showing blank.

    For a site with galleries that will have 100s to eventually over a 1000 of images, to manually type in again the metadata for images one by one is extraordinarily time consuming and impractical. Why they are embedded in original images, ie in Lightroom. The type of auto repetitive action that computers excel and where designed for.

    Should they not be auto-populated as in the video tutorial? If this is no longer a function that Flashlight’s framework provides – but it should, if he has not updated or changed it – are there any plug-ins that would provide this function you could recommend?

    It’s a needed function, and was one element on selecting the theme on reviewing the tutorials.
    Look forward to your response! Thanks for the help.

    Hey!

    You can modify the slideshow script if you want to use the image title/description instead. Open up wp-content/themes/flashlight/includes/helper-slideshow.php and replace

    			if(isset($this->image_meta_content[$id]))
    			{
    				if(isset($this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption_title']))
    					$exif['title'][1] = $this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption_title'];

    				if(isset($this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption']))
    					$exif['description'][1] = $this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption'];

    				if(empty($exif['title'][1])) $exif['title'] = "";
    				if(empty($exif['description'][1])) $exif['description'] = "";
    			}

    with

    			if(isset($this->image_meta_content[$id]))
    			{
    				if(isset($this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption_title']))
    					$exif['title'][1] = $this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption_title'];

    				if(isset($this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption']))
    					$exif['description'][1] = $this->image_meta_content[$id]['slideshow_caption'];

    				if(empty($exif['title'][1])) $exif['title'] = "";
    				if(empty($exif['description'][1])) $exif['description'] = "";
    			}

                if(empty($exif['title'])) $exif['title'][1] = get_post_field( 'post_title', $id);
                if(empty($exif['description'])) $exif['description'][1] = get_post_field( 'post_excerpt', $id);
                if(empty($exif['description'])) $exif['description'][1] = get_post_field( 'post_content', $id);

    Thx Dude!!

    You’re a hero.

    It’s only displaying title at this point, but even this is a lifesaver. Much appreciated.
    (Preview: http://new.dharmaeye.com/galleries/michael-ash-tibet/)

    Will search now how to stylize the Tool Tip (title bubble). Any tips where in css?

    Thanks a million.

    Hey!

    You can use these selectors to modify the tooltip:

    .exif_data_tooltip {
    display: none;
    width: 300px;
    position: absolute;
    z-index: 100;
    padding-bottom: 8px;
    background: transparent url(../images/skin-minimal/tooltip_arrows.png) bottom center no-repeat;
    margin-left: -123px;
    }

    .exif_data_inner_tooltip {
    background: #fff;
    padding: 15px;
    overflow: hidden;
    font-size: 11px;
    }

    .exif_data_inner_tooltip strong {
    font-size: 12px;
    }

    .exif_data_inner_tooltip {
    font-size: 11px;
    }

    Cheers!

    Thanks, Ismael. Found one of those, and will stylize to heart’s content with the others as well.

    Feels like just Title will be good here in the tooltip, for simplicity, with full description to show in cart for each image. But it does seem like it should show, as per the code that Peter sent. Either Dude or Ismael, do you have any reason why it is not displaying?

    I copied to code specifically as Peter instructed. Perhaps, there was more code I should have covered, as there is more lines in the replacing lines. Not sure (obviously not a native coder).

    Other than indicating how to display Descripition as well, if desired in the future… beyond that, thread can be closed. Thank you!

    Hey!

    The description container is getting output but it looks like there is no content for it. You can try re-setting each element on a photo and make sure the correct field is coming through as Peter’s changes look like it should be getting pulled in correctly.

    Best regards,
    Devin

    This thread can be closed. Happy with the way I got it to look.
