I just bought Velvet and I very much like your theme and its power to adapt to different needs. However, I am sad to discover that at deciding points, there seem to be missing important options:
I wanted to create different templates for several subsections of my page (http://neu.zuhause-weltweit.de). Some of these subsections have several pages, so they need an own sidebar and a menu. This, however, seems impossible. I would need either of the following possibilities:
- In the template builder, insert the current page’s content into a column – or
- Keep the sidebar when inserting a current page’s content into the template builder (when inserting the blog, the sidebar appears, when inserting a page, it doesn’t) – or
The template builder is so powerfull – I would love to be able to realize my plans with your theme.

I didn’t test this code modification but I think the second option can be done with a small code change. Open up /wp-content/themes/velvet/includes/helper-templates.php and replace
$output .= "</div></div>";
$output .= "</div>"; $avia_config['currently_viewing'] = "page"; ob_start(); //start buffering the output instead of echoing it get_sidebar(); $output .= ob_get_contents() ; ob_end_clean(); $output .= "</div>";
If it doesn’t work I’ll mark this thread for Kriesi (feature request).

thanx for your effort. This code actually inserts the sidebar, but not next to the post, but below the post, and only the general part of the sidebar “widgets shown everywhere” and not the sidebar of pages “widgets that appear only on pages”. So, it would be great if you could mark this feature as a feature request – either getting the current page content in columns (would be even greater) or getting the sidebar next to the current page content when inserting it directly in the template builder.

I’m not sure if the theme will be getting any new feature updates but you can look at this plugin to get more control over which widgets show where: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/

thanks for that hint. In oder to integrate widgets into sidebars, however, I have to be able to place (individual) sidebars next to the page content. This, however, is not possible in the theme. It seems odd, you can do nearly everything with the template builder, except of placing the “current page’s page content” next to a sidebar or widget area. This is really sad, as it is essential in order to build templates that can be used for many pages and feature individual sidebars, menus and looks. It would be great if you have another idea how we could make this possible.
Thanks for your effort

I marked this thread for Kriesi (feature request). Tbh I doubt he’ll implement it because I’m not aware of many users who requested this feature but it’s worth a try.
