I just bought a currency converter from woocommerce extensions which gives me a widget.
My product page has no sidebar (design does not need it) but I would like this widget to appear on the page under the product description. I see in the text editor there is an option to add 3 types of widget, but I can’t select from my existing ones.
Is this possible?March 29, 2012 at 6:07 pm #69631
The magic wand tool only has hooks for adding in the widgets made by the theme itself. Does the extension give you the option of adding the widget in with a shortcode or a way to hard code it in? If not, you might need to check with the extensions author or documentation to see how to add the feature into a page without a widget area.

I have posted on the Woocommerce forums to ask about it. TO be honest when it is a premium paid widget I expected a bit more, there is no currency conversion offered by woocommerce so I thought this must be the answer as it is there product. Unfortunately there are a lot of problems with it and it does not offer what you are writing. In fact there is zero documentation on it.
I have tried other WP plugins to allow widgets in posts and pages via shortcodes but they don’t seem to work correctly.
This is prob more a Woo question than a Propulsion question, but I just wanted to post here in case you had a knowledge of this widget within the theme as it is woo.

Hi Devin, Just a follow up to this. Via another 3rd party plugin I am able to generate a shortcode where I can insert the widget where I like. I would like to potentially insert the currency converter where the search and social icons currently are in the page headers. i.e. remove the search and social icons and replace with this widget.
With a shortcode is this possible? or do I need the custom PHP or something to add to the theme files?April 1, 2012 at 3:38 pm #69634
You can use the shortcode to add it to the theme code. Basically I’d use the do_shortcode function: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/do_shortcode in header.php to include the code near the social icons.
