One other question if thats ok? I would like to limit the number of posts in column 4 of the footer – the default widget for that column. What do I need to change the widget to a 4 post limit. Sadly using the recent posts widget (or any other) isn’t an option as the formatting is changed.
Big thanks again.September 17, 2011 at 9:01 am #52158September 21, 2011 at 3:20 am #52159
You can use the PHP Code widget (drag from Available Widgets into the Footer-Column 4 field) and then use this code. “showposts” specifies the number of posts and you’ll need to replace “yourcategory” with whatever category you want the posts to come from.
<?php query_posts('category_name=yourcategory&showposts=4'); ?>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
<li><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>">
<?php the_title(); ?>
<?php endwhile; ?>
But you will need to format the output.September 21, 2011 at 7:11 am #52160
just drag’n'drop the Avisio sidebar news widget into the column4 widget area. You can set the number of posts by using the sidebar news widget options.September 29, 2011 at 8:06 pm #52161
Thanks for the reply. I don’t have the Avisio sidebar news widget for some reason. I have a portfolio widget which I am using to display portfolio items in the side bar on certain pages.
Could I edit a piece of code to change the number of posts / limit the number elsewhere?
Thanks again guys, much appreciated.September 30, 2011 at 6:09 am #52162
I checked it again and the Sidebar News widget is part of the theme. Try to install the latest version of Avisio and check if the widget is in one of the “widget pools” – “Available Widgets” or “Inactive Widgets”. You can also use widgets like: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/category-posts/ but they’re not optimized for Avisio.September 30, 2011 at 8:31 pm #52163
Thanks dude, but I am up to date. I don’t want to reinstall and lose any customisation, any other way to active this?
I am using category post at the moment to link to certain categories but the formatting doesn’t work in the footer. Can i re-install the plugin somewhere or modify the PHP?October 2, 2011 at 8:07 am #52164
