We are filling our new abundance themed website with content and stumble on 2 major problems.
1. Shortcodes button in editor
We cannot use the shortcodes editor anymore. One day, it just stopped working. The only items we can use from the list are dividers and dropcaps. All other do not work anymore. We search your support database and tried all steps that you mentioned to other users like, disableing all plugins, update the funtions.php file but with no succes. We know others have this problem too and its a known problem for you guys but all information we found on the subject, didnt solve our problems.
Can you help us out on this one? We know, we can use the codes manually but thats such a pain in the @ss for employees that are not familiar with coding and such.
2. Opening links in new window
We also have this problem that when linking text to link and has to open in a new window, the lightbox viewer – im not sure this box is called lightbox but its the same box that woocommerce shows to show products – opens up and tells that “Image cannot be loaded. Make sure the path is correct and the image exists”. This happens when we try to link text or images to link to an url and has to open in a new window. It also happens to all the Links in the dashboard link section. It has nothing to do with loading an image…we just want to open a new window to an URL…
When we move the move over the linked object, we clearly see the correct preview url in the browser, but when we click it, it opens the lightbox type thing…
Help us out here guys, we do not know were to look for the problem anymore….

For #1, this is no longer a known issue. If you are using the most recent version of the theme and wordpress 3.4 with no other plugins then there should be no problems with using the shortcode button.
Also make sure the browser you are using isn’t causing any conflicts as I’ve seen it happen with certain browser add-ons.
If its still not working, try re-downloading the theme files from Themeforest again and then re-installing the theme again on top of itself in case there has been a file corrupted or something like that.
#2 – Do you have an example link? The lightbox effect should only happen on images and video links automatically and _blank shouldn’t cause any issues.

Hi Devin and thanx for your reply.
Can I just install the Abundance theme over my current Abundance theme? When I do this, will it erase content – woocommerce shop items, pages ect ? I have the latest WP version and no browser plugins. Ive bought the theme about 2 or 3 weeks ago so is there already a new version then? Please advice.
On the openingpage footer, I have a you tube iconlink – which is a link from the dasboard –> links page, and should open in a new page – whicj you can click and see for yourself. But it also happens when i select just plane text in the editor and add a link to open in new window…
Just check it out and see for yourself. I will leave the you tube footer icon there for you to study.
Thanx in advance!

Yes you can just install it on top of itself. All database settings should stay intact as long as the theme names are the same. Make sure you have tried turning off NextGen gallery, Yoast SEO, Events Manager, the Newsletter plugin and any others when testing the shortcode as well.
Youtube links are special case as are vimeo links since the lightbox plugin auto detects those links and adds a lightbox effect to them. You’ll need to add a noLightbox class to any youtube url that you do not want to open inside a lightbox. For example:
<a class="noLightbox" href="http://www.youtube.com/">Youtube</a>

But these arent You Tube links….They are just links that has to be opened in a new window..But he keeps opening the links in a lightbox.
Did you checked the you tube icon in the footer? Just go over it and check the url…

I just replaced the entire theme but still no luck with the shortcodes. I also turned off all plugins again without any succes. When you say that this isnt an issue anymore as it can be restored..well…not here….
I guess we just have to live with it then. Bit of a bummer tho as we bought the theme for it features…December 10, 2012 at 4:46 pm #99917
The youtube is a link to youtube.com which means that the theme reads it as a video url. I know and you know that it goes to a profile, but in order to make the typical use of linking to youtube work it assumes all links to youtube are videos that should be opened in a lightbox.
Is there another example of a non youtube or vimeo link set to open in a new page that is having the same issue?
As for the shortcode issue, if you can create a temporary admin account for me, I’ll log in and take a look.
You can send the information to my email at DevinVinson (at) gmail.com. Make sure to include a link to this topic so that my spam filter doesn’t grab it :)
