    Hi

I was working on adding new items to my menu – just a couple – I hit save and got this message:

“The given object ID is not that of a menu item.”

And half my menu items disappeared. I added them back in again, hit save again, and it was OK. Later I went back and added another item but got the same problem and now they’ve all gone! I had lots of rows of the same error message:

The given object ID is not that of a menu item.
The given object ID is not that of a menu item.
The given object ID is not that of a menu item. Etc….

My menu has completely disappeared. All of it. I know I’m going to have to re-instate it, but I’m concerned it’s going to happen all over again. I’ve been working on the site for a couple of weeks without problems – and you helped me make 2 line menus and sort out a table – but this is a bit of a nightmare. I also had a server error as I was trying to save the menu – but not with any other page edits – which doesn’t make sense to me.

    Thanks
    Bob

    Hey bobbeach,

Could you please provide us with a temporary admin login so that we can take a closer look? You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply. Also, make sure to disable any plugins while testing and make sure you are running the latest version of the theme (3.3.2).

    Regards,

    Temp login set up.

The menu error might have been related to me adding a custom link – not an actual page – though I’m just guessing. I’ve added the link below.

Do you need a site map?

    Hey!

Can you please firstly refer to this post – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/enfold-menu-item-limit/

Right. I must admit I find that confusing. I’m not a coder, and I’ve never had the problem before, though I’ve built WordPress sites with much bigger menus.

However, a solution need to be found. So which is the best (safest) way forward? The last thing I want to do is get to 50 menu items and then loose the lot again. Is there any way to guard against this?

Should I just speak directly to the host?

    Thanks
    Bob

OK. The htaccess fix seems to have done it. Thanks.
