    Hi again,

    I recently decided to add a menu under our banner, e.g. ‘About, Contact, Advertise, Write For Us’.

    However, when I added a menu, this was the result:

    The menu items repeat themselves behind the banner and the menu is far too long (height-wise, there is a large excess of white space).

    Any help is appreciated.

    you can create two custom main menus – go to Appearance > Menus and create two menus. The top one must be called “First” and the lower menu “Second”. A short tutorial about menus can be found here: (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -the-menu-behaves-weird

    Thanks Dude!

    However, how do I make it less high (it’s slightly too fat for my liking). :)

    Yes of course. Open up style.css and search for:

    position: relative;

    float: left;
    z-index: 4;

    .catnav li a{
    padding:13px 10px 10px 10px;
    border: none;
    text-decoration: none;
    line-height: 17px;
    outline: none;

    Adjust the .catnav_wrapper line height (by default it’s 50px) and the .catnav li a padding (first and third value – top/bottom padding) and the min height value. At least open up js/custom.js and adjust following code:

    if(jQuery(this).height() < 34)

    Change 34px (standard tab height) to any other value (i.e. decrease it according to your new padding/line height values.

    What values would I have to change if I wanted to reduce its height by 10px? What new values would I have to enter?

    Thank-you for your help, Dude.

    Change 34px to 24px, min-height to 20px, padding to: 8px 10px 5px 10px; (instead of padding:13px 10px 10px 10px;) and line-height to 40px (instead of 50px).

    Thank-you very much Dude! If you’re free, could you explain what ‘padding’ means and does, please?

    I’d really appreciate it! :)

    The w3cschool website explains it: :)

    Extremely amateur here, but where do I find js/custom.js ? Thanks!

    Hey cronincleanin,

    No worries! You can find that in your themes files. If you are connecting via FTP, it will be under wp-content>themes>newscast>js>custom.js

    Thank you, Devin. Found it! :)
