    Am I just dumb or what? Why is my menu repeating items with this theme now using the WordPress 3 menus?

    http://fridleyfootball.com/

    The menus are showing up as both pages ans categories….I don’t get it. What am I screwing up here?

    I checked the documentation, but it still says to use the Newscast Menu Manager with the seperate Pages and Categories menus. But that is no longer available in the new theme updated for WordPress 3.

    With this WordPress Menu, my menu items are showing up as Pages and Posts – it looks horrible.

    I much preferred the old menu that came with the theme to having to use the WordPress one which either I am too dumb to figure out or is not working correctly. Any way to fix this? Or am I going to have to install an old WordPress 2,9 install with an old download of this theme just to get it to work correctly?

    Thanks!

    Hi!

    Have you selected the correct menu / location in Appearace -> Menus?

    Best regards,

    James

    I guess that is the problem….when I’m in WordPress it says my Theme only supports 1 Menu.

    Any way to change that or reason for it saying that?

    The image I posted was from my own site (already had it open so just grabbed a screenshot from that).

    I’ll raise this with Kriesi as a possible bug, because the header.php calls 2 different menus but there’s only 1 registered in /framework/helper_functions/nav_menu.php.

    Hm, if you check the documentation of the latest theme version you should see a description on how to use the menu manager. I’ll post the excerpt here:

    B 2) Setting up the Menus of your site

    The theme has space for two different menus that can be created with the new WordPress3 Menu Manager. You can find the menu manager at appearance-> Menu

    To set up the menus create 2 new menus and enter the Name “First” at Menu Name. This Menu will populate the small top menu. Save that and create another Menu that is called “Second”, this one will controll the bigger menu below.

    Now before you add any menu items take a look at the top right of your browser window: you will find The “Howdy admin and Logout link” Directly below you can see the “screen options” tab. Click that tab and a panel with additional options will open. Check the checkbox in “Show advanced menu properties” that says “Description”

    Now set up your menus. If you add Menu Items to the “First” Menu you dont need to fill in the description. It wont get displayed. However the Second menus top level items display the description directly bellow the Menu Item title in your front end.

    Attention: you might need to delete some pre filled descriptions if you use pages in the second menu, since wordpress adds a content excerpt automatically to those items. Just remove that and enter a very short description of 2-7 words

    Note: If you purchased this item before wordpress 3 was released and update it you will see that my very own “old” Menu Manager is gone now in favor of the new wordpress Menu Manager and you need to re-enter your menus here. Sorry for that ;)

    Thank you Kresi.

    It works, however I’m not sure about what you said about the documentation, because I read it and it still talks about the old menus. It is dated 7/3/2010.

    Have you uploaded this new documentation to ThemeForest? Because I downloaded the file twice and the documentation did not contain this section you quoted, just the old info on your old Menu Managers, which I really liked.

    #31055

    Hey!

    Just downloaded the theme myself again to check it and the Section is filled at B2) Just as it should be. If thats not the case with your download the only possible explanations I can think of are either some caching weirdness or a themeforest bug…

    #31056

    Huh, weird….still showing the old info on my end. Cleared my cache. Same thing.

    I also am having a similar problem. In the menus section under “Theme Locations” I also am seeing “Your theme supports 1 menu. Select which menu you would like to use.”

    What code needs to be modified to resolve this?

    #31058

    +1. I just purchased this theme and installed it on WP 3.01. I’m getting the “Your theme supports 1 menu” message as well. Please advise.

    #31059

    I ended up editing [em]/framework/helper_functions/nav_menu.php[/em] and replacing the menu code with this new block, which gives me 2 menu items.

    Code:
    add_action( ‘init’, ‘register_my_menu_page’ );
    function register_my_menu_page() {
    register_nav_menu( ‘theme-menu_page’, __( ‘Page Navigation’ ) );
    }
    add_action( ‘init’, ‘register_my_menu_cat’ );
    function register_my_menu_cat() {
    register_nav_menu( ‘theme-menu_cat’, __( ‘Category Navigation’ ) );
    }

    Hi!

    Just add 2 menus with the “+” symbol of the menu manager. One with name First and one with Second. That should work without problems.

    Regards,

    Kriesi

    I’ve got similar problems, there is a double site title (the small one)

    See here: http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/1904/35065224.jpg

    #31062

    Does anybody know how I can remove the small top menu? I just need the big menu below.

    Thank you very much!

    Sure, open up header.php, find and remove this code:

    <div class="nav_wrapper">
    <!-- Navigation for Pages starts here -->
    <?php
    wp_nav_menu( array( 'menu' => 'First', 'menu_class' => 'nav', 'echo' => true,
    'fallback_cb' => '', 'before' => '', 'after' => '', 'link_before' => '', 'link_after' => '',
    'depth' => 0, 'context' => 'frontend'));

    /* pre wp 3
    if(is_object($k_option['custom']['kriesi_menu_pages']))
    $k_option['custom']['kriesi_menu_pages']->display('Menu Manager Pages','show_basic');
    */
    ?>
    </div><!-- end nav_wrapper -->

    James, thank you very much!

    I am also having some menu trouble. My 2 menus are working properly, but for some reason I cannot find the field to edit the small description for the second menu. I clicked ‘descriptions’ under the screen options, but it didn’t help. Thanks.

    #31066

    If you want to edit the description of a specific menu item, you can do this on the Menu Manager screen (WP admin -> Appearance -> Menus).

    If this is where you are looking and can’t find the right place, drop me a link to your site / screenshot with the description area highlighted.

    #31067

    I had no problems after reading your post above on adding First Menu, clicking the + sign and adding Second Menu, however the second menu’s font is a bit larger then I would like it on our header. Where can I find the CSS code to make this smaller?

    You can see the blog and the sizes there at: http://internationalpress.com/blog

    As you can see I followed your advice and centered the text on the second menu as well. On a side note, I am new to WP and so happy I discovered you and this wonderful theme. Frankly, I can’t wait to work on my personal photography blog next and of course purchase one of your other themes. These are truly spectacular and the entire WP blog is just great. I feel I have been in the dark ages with my old web site and not all of this has really gotten me motivated again.

    Thanks.

    Never mind, found it and reduced it to 14 px, looks better now. Thanks

    .catnav li a strong{

    display:block;

    font-weight: bold;

    font-size: 14px;

    }

    #31069

    Sorry, one more question. I ended up reducing the font size to 12 bold on the second menu which looks right now. But as you can see if you visit my blog the bounding boxes are now too large for this size font. I tried to adjust a few different codes, but can’t seem to find the right one that dictates the height of these boxes.
