    Hi Kriesi,

    my news section template is a bit messy. Images in the posts don’t appear, sometimes the text is bold, sometimes not, sometimes the categories appear in black, other times in orange.

    Any tips on how to fix this?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Alright,lets try swapping out the jQuery , because I think one of your plugins is doing something zany… About half of your double quotes are changed from the correct

    " "

    to the incorrect

    ” ”

    …Ok so please open up functions.php located in the root folder and find lines 11-23 that looks like

    if(!is_admin()){
    add_action('wp_print_scripts', 'addjquery');
    }

    function addjquery() {
    $my_jquery = get_bloginfo('template_url'). "/js/jquery-1.3.1.min.js";
    wp_deregister_script( 'jquery' );
    wp_register_script( 'jquery', $my_jquery, false, '' );
    wp_enqueue_script('jquery');

    $my_customJs = get_bloginfo('template_url')."/js/custom.js";
    wp_enqueue_script('my_customJs',$my_customJs,array('jquery'));
    }

    and replace it with

    if (!is_admin())
    {
    add_action("wp_enqueue_scripts", "addjquery", 11);
    }
    function addjquery()
    {
    $my_customJs = get_bloginfo('template_url') . "/js/custom.js";
    wp_register_script( 'my_customJs', $my_customJs, array('jquery'), 1, false );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'my_customJs' );
    if ( is_singular() ) wp_enqueue_script( 'comment-reply' );
    }

    2.

    Then open header.php and find *and delete* lines 16-18 that look like

    <?php
    if ( is_singular() ) wp_enqueue_script( 'comment-reply' );
    ?>

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

    I’ve done that but as you can see, the problem is not fixed.

    Thanks

    Also, any idea why some images appear and others don’t?

    #128563

    Hi,

    Before you had 20+ javascript errors that are not there now, so something did change, though at the moment its not related to your particular issue.

    —-

    This is from the code on your blog page. This type of code is in the locations that are messed up or images that don’t show up. I dont know if you read html, but the code below is wrong on a number of levels.

    <p>
    This map was created using <a href="”http://www.irishaid.gov.ie/news-publications/tags/annualreport/”& lt;/p">
    </a>
    </p>

    1) How long had you been using the theme?

    2) Did this start for no reason all of a sudden?

    3) Have you recently updated or installed something new?

    4) Please disable (during testing *all* plugins, but especially Jetpack since that plugin often creates evil around it.

    ======================

    Please install this plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/smart-quotes/ and turn smart quotes (”curly quotes” off or have them display as regular ‘dumb’ quotes.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    I’ve been using this theme for about a year, I don’t think its always been like this.

    I can’t think of a reason why it started. I don’t recall it happening because of a specific reason like a new plugin.

    I did get a freelancer (from odesk.com) to make some modifications to the site before, perhaps he did something.

    I’ve deactivated all the plugins and installed that smart quotes one. No change

    Also, the html code for the link you sent says this when I open the editing page

    This map was created using Irish Aid Annual reports.

    This is ok, no?

    #128566

    Hi,

    The code for Irish aid is from your site. The link is not ok since its formatted incorrectly. Can you send me login credentials [usjahm (at) gmail (dot) com] , just mention this post, because I would like to see if this is something you are pasting incorrectly into the editor or its the theme. That’s the fastest way to resolve this. Otherwise I will continue to ask you questions and from the sound of things you aren’t quite comfortable yet with html code to answer them in a way that well help resolve this.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    #128567

    I’ve done that Nick, thanks

    #128568

    Hi,

    I replied to you. If you want I will patch it up for you, but the second suggestion I made would make the most sense as a long term solution. I think in your situation, Enfold would be the correct move and a new look will rejuvenate the site a bit too.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    #128569

    Hi Nick,

    if you could patch up those small things it’d be much appreciated. I suppose I should upgrade the site, maybe with Enfold. I just need to set aside the time to do that.

    Thanks,

    Bernard
