If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
I have updated the page titles within pages and when I preview the page, the meta title shows up fine. However, in the actual website (not the preview) the meta titles disappear on the main page of the website. They show fine on all the other pages. Any idea on what could be causing this?
Can you give us a link to the website? What do you mean by meta titles?
By meta titles I’m referring to the title of the page as it shows up on the tab. For all pages apart from the home page, I get CabanFitness | Services, for instance. For the homepage it’s just CabanFitness |
There is nothing else past it and I am not sure what could be causing the issue.
The theme will use the “blog description” on the home page. You can configure it on the admin page (“Settings”). If you don’t want to use the blog description open up header.php and replace
$avia_page_title = get_bloginfo('name') . ' | ' . (is_home() ? get_bloginfo('description') : wp_title('', false));
$avia_page_title = get_bloginfo('name') . ' | ' . (is_home() ? 'MY TEXT' : wp_title('', false));
and instead of MY TEXT insert your custom headline.
Thanks for the post. That fixed that problem. Now, I have an other issue. After the latest update, the page header H1 changed into the title of my first blog article. Where do I change that to be the the title of the page as it used to be? Also, where is most SEO information changed at or is there a plugin that I need to install to change my SEO information? By that I mean more than just the meta tags.
Thank you again.
I would recommend using something like WordPress SEO: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/
