When i develop i do so on my home machine, then i migrate it to a live server. So, i may start out with WordPress looking at mymachine.example.com and then migrate to customersite.example.com.

When i do so i use the “search and replace” plugin to change mymachine.example.com to customersite.example.com throughout the database. This works well except for every kriesi theme i’ve tried.

What happens is that the settings are all reverted to defaults and in my templates the parameters are still there but the settings for each parameter are gone. So i still have a callout area section but the text i put there is gone.

Anything i can do to stop this from happening? Should i be doing this a different way?

All that said, let me say how much i love the themes of this company. You are the company i have settled on for my development.

    Thank you

    Hey bearcatsandor!

Search and replace doesn’t take into account serialized data so you need to use something like this WP MIGRATE DB

Thank you! I’ll look into that plugin and others like it.
