I'm using a product called SEOQuake that is detecting missing content in the H1 tag assocated with the Logo. I can't imagine this would be well-received by search engines. I've attempted to populate all content associated with the logo and subsequently 'regenerated thumbnails', but this is having no effect.
Can anyone indicate if this is a real problem, or, if I'm just missing where to populate this in the system where avia_logo() picks it up?

Yes, imho it's not very clever to use an image as h1 content. I'll ask Kriesi to change this behaviour. or to add a filter for the logo image output. For now you can modify the code in abundance\framework\php\function-set-avia-frontend.php - search for following function and change the h1 tags to eg h3 tags:
