Hi, currently by default when on the shop page (with categories / sub-categories displayed) the categories show up first with a place holder image with the category name below the place holder image. I was wondering how difficult it would be to change the category text to be displayed in the center of the place holder image. The purpose of this would be to replace the place holder image (which is easy enough) with an image of my choosing with a new place holder image that will have the category txt displayed centered on this new image.
Basically to have it spit the image / txt our to look something like this: http://ogdenlane.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/logo_rosevilleUSA.png
This way I wouldn’t have to create an individual image for every single category and upload them hogging up server storage. Instead have them created with the CSS on the fly which would be awesome especially when creating new categories.
Thanks for any assistance you might be able to provide
You can replace the placeholder image itself located in wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/assets/images/placeholder.png. Is this what you want?
Ismael, that’s the easy party I mentioned originally. What I’m really trying to figure out is how to get the category text to print out centered on top of the placeholder instead of below it.
That would actually be fairly difficult. The category images get displayed in the same output as a product image/name in the catalog and there is not any different css to style the categories differently. You would need to create some new functions in the themes woo commerce config file to hook into the plugins category output in order to attempt what you are describing.
