Does anyone here know how I can modify the Broadscope slideshow so that the image can display full screen width, like on the explode template?
I realize the "img" will have to be set as a background image...any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey,
this is not (easily) possible because the slider doesn't calculate the screen width/height and therefore you can't use it for backgrounds. However I created a plugin because I needed background slideshows for several projects too. More about the plugin can be found here: http://inoplugs.com/projects/wp-backgrounds-plugin/
That seems to be a great plugin Dude, however I was referring to the way this template's home page slideshow (http://themeforest.net/item/explode-corporate-blog-portfolio-wp-theme/full_screen_preview/473140) allows images to be as large as you want (with no scroll bars). I need to modify the code in your "broadscope" theme to do this. NOT entire page background - just slideshow image. Please see example.
I can pay someone to figure this out, since this for a client.

Something similiar is possible - see: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/slideshow-display-big-within-featured-area-no-width-restrictions
There are limitations though because you can't cover every resolution (i.e. distortions can occur with high resolutions).
