i moved my site to a new server, files and db were all moved completely, when i view the site now, the abundance data I had in the site is gone, for example for the facebook button, twitter etc is all back to default data instead of my facebook info, also all the info I had in the frontpage is all reset, how is this possible when its all stored in the database?

Hello,
Let me tag the rest of the support team to give you a better idea. I really don't know why this happened.

Hi gdws,
Unfortunately there is no way for us to tell exactly what happened and why the settings were not stored. Usually I suggest using the wordpress backup plugin to backup all the pages, posts and theme settings and then uploading it to the new host but as for nailing what happened down, I'm really just not sure.

would changing the domain name effect anything? as before it was at subdomain, but when i moved to the new server i made it domain.com
in the db before i imported it i changed all urls from subdomain.domain.com to domain.com

That might do it though I can't say with certainty.

@ gdws,
If you still got acces to your old domain/site then you could try the duplicator plugin to migrate your site to the new server and see if that works:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicator/
And after you migrate your site you could use this plugin to check if you got any broken links:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/broken-link-checker/
Also another helpfull plugin for migration problems:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/
