    Hi all,

This isn’t totally habitat related, but I guessee that my site has a lot of custom content from habitat, so it might be worth asking.

I’ve read the wordpress codex on moving a website, but I’m still a little unsure.

The current link for our site is http://www.identityconsulting.co.uk/Newsite/ and we want to move it to simply http://www.identityconsulting.co.uk

I’m unsure of what steps I’d have to take with current wordpress and current habitat, to make that transition go smoothly.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

transfering WP sites correctly takes some time (because some db changes, etc. are required to keep all settings). That’s something which is beyond the scope of this support forum. However you can just copy your files to the new folder/location and add the new url adress to wp-config.php like described here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#WordPress_address_.28URL.29 – this will help you to acess your admin panel afterwards. There you can change the blog url under “Settings”.

I have used xcloner to move a site with little problem. Also good for general back up.

Thanks for this tip – looks pretty promising :)
