I'd like to place the slide control at the top of the innerslide like in this example:

Same question for the prev/next/close button at the top right of the inner slide
that I want to place at the extreme right…

The image you have there is exactly what is described in that thread. Do you have a link to your site with those changes in place?
Make sure you've added the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:
#top .slideshow_container{
padding-top:25px;
}
#top div .slide_controls {
top: 10px;

yes of course the image is ok cause I've mounted it in photoshop!
so it's not what you can see actualy online:

In fact I want to place numeric and arrow control outside of the image area, just above…
With code you gave me I cannot do that cause I should use negative value and controls are disappearing as you can see:

Not sure if any progress was made with this, but I'd like to do the same thing:
- move slideshow controls outside of the image
- keep the controls always visible (not just on hover)
Looking through the forums I also saw that this may require some tweaks to the aviapoly.js:

to get it outside of the image. Any tips on doing this would be great.

Figured it out, adding this into the custom.css will move it off of the image:
#top div .slide_controls {
display:inline !important;
top:0 !important;
margin:0 0 10px !important;
}
div .numeric_controls {
display:inline !important;
left:0 !important;
float:left !important;
}
div .arrow_controls {
display:inline !important;
right:0 !important;
float:right !important;
}
.numeric_controls, .arrow_controls {
bottom:0;
position:relative !important;
}
.numeric_controls a, .ctrl_previous, .ctrl_next {
opacity:1 !important;
display:inline !important;
}
