I purchased the newscast a month ago. In the mean time I have been learning about wordpress, how to install a theme, how to set it up. I tried to install my new theme yesterday and it did not work, so I decided to read the support forums, it seems like a lot of people who are new to wordpress don’t really read the instructions before trying to install the new theme. I did the opposite, I first read the instructions. Ok, number 1 mistake is most people try to install the zip file they download instead of installing newscast.zip file. I installed the newscast.zip file but unfortunatelly the theme does not work properly. Especially the slideshow does not display properly and I get only two optios for the theme customization. What am I doing wrong?
has no video instead, it takes you to http://support.envato.com/.
Note: You should put http://youtu.be/Z1ZZJvHzRmY link right at the top of http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/video-tutorials. It is little difficult to find it and you have to go to another link “http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/installing-wordpress-301-and-basic-settings” in order to find it. Why don’t you put it right at the top of http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/video-tutorials ?

1) Thanks for your feedback.
2) “Especially the slideshow does not display properly and I get only two optios for the theme customization. What am I doing wrong?” – can you elaborate please? The slideshow shows the featured images of the latest posts. If you just want to feature certain categories/post go to Newscast Options > Mainpage Options and select one or more categories by using the dropdown options next to the “Featured Slider Categories” label.
Newscast doesn’t offer many style options. You can select the skin and logo on the Newscast option page. If you want to add some custom style rules you can add them to style.css or to the skin file in the css folder.September 25, 2012 at 9:41 pm #92028
Hi Dude :)
The theme customization has only two options, Site Title and Tagline and Static Front Page. Even the standard wordpress theme has more options, is this normal?

Hi Ozgur ,
You should see Newscast Options at the bottom of your WordPress admin area options. This will have four sub menus: Newscast Options, Mainpage Options, Contact & Submit Member News and Sidebar & Footer.
Each of the menu areas has various options for customizing the theme like changing the Skin in the Newscast Options which will give you three options to choose from that change the overall look of the theme (colors, background etc).
The rest is pretty straightforward to get things set up and looking just like the demo. Customization will take modifying or creating your own css or even php/html if its in depth changes to layout or functionality.

Thanks for your response but unfortunately this doesn’t answer my question, why my accordion slider doesn’t work? I played around with those options. The slider simply doesn’t work and I don’t know why. Could you you visit the link I provided and have a look?
Kind regardsSeptember 27, 2012 at 8:31 pm #92031
I have just noticed that for the slider to work you need to create a post and upload the image and then set it as the featured image and insert into the post. It would be nice if someone told me that. I guess the theme is not for dummies like myself.September 28, 2012 at 6:26 pm #92032
I noticed this post has been flagged as resolved. Have you found a solution to your problem?
