    Hi,

    First off, this is a great theme. We love it.

    However, I am having a few troubles with the displaying of Posts on the homepage and on any page. For some reason, the author of the post is not being displayed at the top of the post. It simply says “by ” but there is not author.

    I am using Firefox for Mac and it also doesn’t work on other browsers. Curious. Is it possible that the CSS has been damaged or something?

    I have a very basic knowledge of CSS code and PHP so please be gentle.

    The issue can be seen here: http://www.businessadvisor.net.au/blogs/

    Also, I have noticed on other themes that some of them include the jQuery plugin ScrollTo for smooth scrolling. I understand that Newscast does not come with this included. How would I go about installing it onto the theme? If you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

    Cheers,

    Hey,

    The 1st bug is strange, it should be displaying the Author’s name. I’d suggest disabling all your plugins to see if this resolves the problem, if it does you need to reactivate them 1 by 1 until the bug crops up and you can see which plugin caused the problem.

    For the smooth scroll, I have added the function to the custom.js file, you can download it here. Backup you existing custom.js file then rename custom-with-scroll.js to custom.js and upload. You need to add links using a hash tag to make the link work, for example put this at the bottom of your page:

    <a href="#top" class="scrollTop">Top</a>

    Let me know how you get on.

    Hi James,

    I tried deactivating each plugin like you suggested. However it made no difference. Do you know which part of the CSS controls the display of author? Maybe mine has been corrupted or deleted for some reason.

    The smooth scrolling works very well when scrolling back to the top, is there a way to have smooth scrolling like that but for all internal links? That would be perfect.

    Thanks for all your help,

    Hey,

    The author pages code isn’t there – I’m not sure why but it’s not a CSS issue…

    I’ll investigate and let you know if I find a solution.

    For the smooth scroll, you need to create anchors and links and place them appropriately within the template files. An anchor looks like this:

    <a id="top"></a>

    or could be an element of the page such as:

    <div id="top">

    and the link to point to it would look similar to this:

    <a href="#top">Top</a>

    The anchor must use a unique ID (denoted by the # tag in the link and the ID in the anchor) – as a side note, if you use an ID more than once it’s invalid HTML.

    Hi James,

    Thank you for your help.

    The smooth scrolling is working now.

    I was using;

    About the author problem, is there a section of my theme’s coding that is missing?

    As I said, I have little to no knowledge in PHP coding so I was not messing around with the existing code.

    Thanks,
