Please would one of you advise ASAP. I noticede that all of the product categories are NO INDEX. I have disabled this in AVIA Framwork by going to: framework/php edit and changing line 312 noindex to index.

THE PROBLEM – it is now indexing the product tags. Even with WordPress SEO installed and tag idnexing disabled via Wordpess SEO it is STILL indexing tags.

I believe it is because the AVIA is now set to INDEX. Coudl you please advise within your framework on how tos et the TAGS to NO INDEX and the CATEGORIES to INDEX.

    Thanks

    Vince

    Hi Vince,

Kindly edit your header.php and just remove or comment this line of code:

    Code:
    if (function_exists(‘avia_set_follow’)) { echo avia_set_follow(); }

    Hope this helps. :)

    Hi Ismael

Thanks but that did not help. To shorten my question:

I would like the product tags to to be NOINDEX,FOLLOW please see above question that I edited header.php (LINE 312) so that the categories can be indexed.

The PROBLEM is that it has oepned the product tags and theya re being idnexed. I ahve tried everyhting to stop them including WordPress SEO which does not.

    Hi Vincent,

I’m not actually sure on how you would do that. I’ve tagged the thread to be looked by Kriesi and Peter as they might have an answer for you.

Otherwise, you might have luck with the actual WooCommerce forums since even the woothemes have categories set to noindex, follow.

    Hi Devin

Thanks for the reply. I sure hope that Peter or Kriesi can assist with this. I have tried the WooCommerce forums, in actual fact they suggested try this forum.

The tagged pages are creating duplciate content on my website which is not good and leaves the site open to penalties from Google.

    Thanks

    Hi!

The easiest way to achieve this by using WP SEO – go to Products > Tags – edit a tag and select/tick the “noindex/nofollow” checkboxes.

    Best regards,

    Peter

Hi Peter, please see first post! I tried this and it does not work. I know this plugin very well and in this case it is not working because we removed the no index from the framwork on cats.

    Hi!

Yes but WP-SEO adds its own index/robots code anyway and it’s not affected by our framework.

Peter, it is not working. Paginated categories are showing up as INDEX,FOLLOW and this is due to me lifting the NOINDEX rule ont eh categories.

There are two infurating areas as a result:

All tags are now being indexed.

Category pagination is now being indexed.

Is there a way to prevent this?

    Thanks

    Hi Vince,

Make sure there ins’t in caching going on and that you are seeing the correctly changed pages. Otherwise I’m not sure we have any other answer. As Peter said, WP-SEO adds its on code options and from his understanding of the framework and plugin this shouldn’t have any conflicts and work correctly.

    Regards,

    Devin
