This was a topic that I saw someone else had sent you a few weeks ago. I have the same issue. I purchased your theme 2 weeks ago, so it should be the latest version.
On the Edit Post pages I have no option for “Set Thumbnail” only for “Set Featured Image”.
It’s simply missing. I can send you a screenshot if you want.
Thanks.July 19, 2010 at 3:59 am #29744
I think wordpress just renamed the heading anywhere in the beta process and my description was written that time. its exactly the feature you need ;)August 3, 2010 at 7:52 pm #29745
I have the same issue. I had posted something before your support site update but it didn’t get resolved. I have a “Set Featured Image” button that I use to set the accordian slider image, but I’m not able to set a smaller image to the thumbnail in addition to the “featured image”. The result is that all my accordian slider posts have a cropped image in the thumbnail space when you open them. I saw screenshots on your site where “Set Thumbnail” was an option, but I do not have it in my setup. I would really like to give an appropriately sized thumbnail even to those posts with a featured image. Please help. BTW…this has been the same way when I was running WP 2.9.2 and v1.2.2 of Newcast. Now I am on 3.0.1 and v2 of Newcast and nothing has changed.August 4, 2010 at 3:44 pm #29746
The image sizes are set in functions.php and used by WordPress when you upload an image.
If you change the image sizes, you need to re-upload all the images you have so they are resized to the correct size.
Can you post a link to your site showing the problem?August 5, 2010 at 2:05 pm #29747
Same thing here… There is a 700×320 image in the slider, and the posts also show up on the page area with a thumbnail. The thumbnail just takes a piece of the slider image, but often times, does not show what I want to have there. For example, if there is a car in the slider image, the thumbnail may only show a window of the car, etc.
How can I get it so that, the thumbnail can be of what I would like to show rather than some automatic selection?
I don’t mind resizing and cropping the image in photoshop to 150×150, then uploading, but where and how do I get it so that new thumbnail image shows up rather than the automatic slider image selection?
Thanks!August 5, 2010 at 3:04 pm #29748
The image sizes are set by functions.php and the ratio varies between 3:1 and 1:1 so there’s no “best” size to upload the images at.
WordPress automatically resizes and crops the images – if one in particular is wrong, you can always crop the original to the correct area of the image and size, and upload using FTP to the correct uploads folder, having saved the image with the same name as the image it will be replacing.
