    Hi

    I have a big problem where allot of my customers can not view some of the pages.

    In some browsers it only shows the header then the rest of the page is blank

    There are several pages with this problem but I am assuming they are the same problem so can you have a look at this page:

    http://www.led-tape.com/led-strips/colour-changing-rgb

    I have also done a browser test which the results can be seen here

    http://browsershots.org/http://www.led-tape.com/led-strips/colour-changing-rgb

    I am quite knowledgeable in xhtml, css and php but I can not figure this problem out

    Please have look at this ASAP and email me at (Email address hidden if logged out) once you have replied because it is affecting allot of visitors and business

    Thank You

    Best Regards

    I have gone through all the code and made sure the web page is xhtml strict and validates. For some strange reason an extra close p tag is added. I had to add <p> on the end to make it validate. This has still not resolved the problem though.

    Hey,

    what browsers are you refering to? I tried your website (the link you posted) with Firefox 3.6, IE8, Chrome, Safari and Opera (newest Windows versions) and your website looked ok to me. IE gave me a js error. Hve you tried to deactivate all plugins? It looks like a plugin conflict atm.

    Hey Dude

    Thanks for you reply

    Yes I tested it using the latest versions of all the browsers and it works fine. However we are still being told buy customers who call us up that it is not working.

    I have done a test and it seems to be mainly IE7 and IE6 that it will not work on. Here is the test I have done which you can see by clicking this link https://www.browsera.com/tests/12130-2011-01-14-second?token=369da124-0096-c646-5d23-16f95480d0f1

    As you can see all the div tags just go to the top left corner and behind the background? I have never seen anything like this and have been through the code many times and can not find what’s causing it.

    I have disabled all the plugins but still not luck

    Hey,

    I can recommend you IETester (http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage ) to find the problem. I think it’s javascript related because several warning messages are displayed. I tries to reproduce your errors with the cleancut demo site but I couldn’t. Maybe it’s related to the mailchimp widget/js code?

    #39169

    I have tried everything and I am quite sure that it is something to do with the Cufon coding/js. I have also noticed that links on my home page are no longer working. Its like there is a transparent div tag covering the “read more” links for my products? I have no choice now but to rebuild my website using a different theme.

    I’m sorry that some things don’t work for you as expected. I hope you’ll find a theme which fits your needs.

    Hey,

    your website shows several syntax errors – I checked it with w3c validator: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.htrdeveloppement.fr%2Fservices%2Fclassement-hotelier&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

    Please try to correct them first.

    #39174

    Yes that’s really strange. But something must be different because the demo site displays nearly flawlessly (some png problems with IE6). Maybe it’s css related? Try to compare your modifications to the standard css.

    Ok I have done a fresh install of word press added your theme. Imported the data from my non working website.

    Still the same problem!! (Not showing in ie6 or ie7)

    I have not touched the CSS or JavaScript in anyway on this rebuild and not added any plug-ins.

    http://www.led-tape.com/rebuild/led-strips/colour-changing-rgb

    There is defiantly something wrong with your theme!!

    I am still sure its to do with the cufon fonts as I know xhtml, css and php quite well and the cufon fonts is the only part I am not familiar with.

    Is there an easy way to disable the cufon so I can see if it is that?

    Please help me as this problem is costing me a fortune. I have spent around 20 hours trying to fix this problem.

    You can disable cufon by deleting following code in header_includes.php located under leancutframeworkhelper_function

    $cufon = get_bloginfo('template_url')."/js/cufon.js";
    wp_enqueue_script('cufon',$cufon,array('jquery'));

    $quicksand = get_bloginfo('template_url')."/js/quicksand.font.js";
    wp_enqueue_script('quicksand',$quicksand,array('jquery'));

    Then open up custom.js located in the folder “js” and delete following code:

    // font replacement, remove this line if you want to use a different font defined in css,
    // or if the current font doesnt support some of your language specific characters
    cufont_replacement();

    and

    function cufont_replacement()
    {

    var usedCSS = 1,
    colorset = new Array('1px 1px #ffffff', '-1px -1px #000000');
    jQuery('link').each(function()
    {
    styleURL = jQuery(this).attr('href');
    CSSnumber = styleURL.match(/style(d).css/);
    if(CSSnumber && CSSnumber.length > 0)
    {
    usedCSS = CSSnumber[1];
    }
    });

    if(usedCSS == 2 )
    {
    colorset = ['0px 0px #ffffff', '0px 0px #ffffff'];
    }
    else if(usedCSS == 3 || usedCSS == 5)
    {
    colorset = ['-1px -1px #111111', '-1px -1px #111111'];
    }
    else if(usedCSS == 4)
    {
    colorset = ['1px 1px #ffffff', '1px 1px #ffffff'];
    }

    Cufon.replace('h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6',{

    fontFamily: 'quicksand',
    hover:'true',
    textShadow: colorset[0]
    });

    Cufon.replace('#wrapper_heading h2',{

    fontFamily: 'quicksand',
    hover:'true',
    textShadow: colorset[1]

    });

    Cufon.replace('.heading',{ fontFamily: 'quicksand', hover:'true'});
    }

    Ok I was wrong about the cufon but removing the cufon has solved my smaller issue of being unable to use a £ sign and having to use GBP instead.

    I have got it working yay :) I still don’t know what the issue was but this is what has changed.

    Before

    [one_half] <a rel="lightbox" href="/tl_files/dark_dropdown/images/blue-led-tape.jpg"><img title="Blue LED Tape" src="/tl_files/dark_dropdown/images/blue-led-tape.jpg" alt="Blue LED Tape" /></a> [/one_half] [one_half last] The colour changing RGB LED Tape mixes the colours at the LED source meaning each LED can mix different amounts of red, green and blue to create any colour in the colour spectrum. Available with a IP68 waterproof coating, a IP54 protective resin coating or with no protective coating.</p>
    <p><strong>Ideal For use with:</strong></p><ul>
    <li>Cove Lighting</li>
    <li>Bars</li>
    <li>Night Clubs</li>
    <li>Restaurants</li>
    <li>Hotels</li>
    <li>Home</li>
    </ul>
    <p>[/one_half] [hr] [one_fourth].....

    After

    <a rel="lightbox" href="/tl_files/dark_dropdown/images/blue-led-tape.jpg"><img title="Blue LED Tape" src="/tl_files/dark_dropdown/images/blue-led-tape.jpg" alt="Blue LED Tape" /></a> The colour changing RGB LED Tape mixes the colours at the LED source meaning each LED can mix different amounts of red, green and blue to create any colour in the colour spectrum. Available with a IP68 waterproof coating, a IP54 protective resin coating or with no protective coating.<br />
    <strong>Ideal For use with:</strong></p><ul>
    <li>Cove Lighting</li>
    <li>Bars</li>
    <li>Night Clubs</li>
    <li>Restaurants</li>
    <li>Hotels</li>
    </ul>
    <p>[hr] [one_fourth]

    The only thing different is the [one_half] shortcode???

    I could be wrong but I think the issue is if you put a shortcode ( [one_half] ) right at the beginning of a page it puts the div tag ( <div class=”one_half “> before the <p> tag which makes the page not validate and not work in ie6 & ie7

    Here is my current website with the before code

    http://www.led-tape.com/led-strips/colour-changing-rgb

    This code is does not validate with 1 error which is “end tag for element p which is not open”

    Here is my rebuilt website with the after code

    http://www.led-tape.com/rebuild/led-strips/colour-changing-rgb

    This code validates xhtml strict

    Please let me know what you think?

    Regards

    Joe

    I’ll look into this. WordPress adds some html tags (especially if you work in “visual mode” but also if you use the html editor) automatically. Regarding your “£” problem – Please rename quicksand.font.js located in a folder called “js” to quicksand.font.js.bak.

    Afterwards rename quicksand_all.font.js to quicksand.font.js and the “£” sign should be displayed.
