Hi there, I would like to try place the child product categories into small boxes (in a grid) at the top of the page when viewing product categories. How can I do this please.. It may solve all my issues in building a site with over 2000+ products and +160 categories.
you need to modify the templates (or hook into the default templates) to achieve what you want. It requires some time and quite a lot of work however I can point you to the right direction. You can find all necessary actions here: http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce-codex/extending-woocommerce/action-reference/ – I’d use the “woocommerce_before_single_product” action. This page: http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce-codex/extending-woocommerce/class-reference/ list all functions which can display product data (i.e. get_categories will list all product categories).
Sorry, but I am looking for this to be an update on the theme as when you have a very large commerce site, then it looks very ugly with so many categories. I would have thought support could at least supply me with the right code to get this done to display the theme in all the right light.
Hey! I added the request to the potential new feature list but to be perfectly honest, since its not been requested until now I am afraid it is a pretty low priority and probably might not see the light of day anytime soon.
Since we dont have a single customer who pays a lot but many customers that pay a small amount of money for our templates I need to focus on the stuff that many poeple want. I would recommend to hire someone to get the job done if you dont want or cant do it yourself, that would probably be more time efficient than waiting for me to find the time to implement it.
Best regards and sorry that I cant currently help on this one…
