Is it possible to make the portfolio images taller than they are wide? In other words, altering the dimensions of those in the settings somewhere? I am loving the Replete theme but I really wish those could have been more flexible, the way they are in, say, super skeleton. At the very least I’d like to make them all a different size than they are set up to be now. Thanks for some great work with this one!January 15, 2013 at 1:58 pm #103498
You can use a plugin like: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
Then you can define the height of the “portfolio” images for the 2 and 3 column portfolio sizes or portfolio_small for the 4 column portfolio.
Afterwards, you’ll need to regenerate your thumbnails which can be done from within that plugin.

Thanks Devin; i saw that mentioned about another of the Kriesi themes but wasn’t sure it was the case for this one. This is just an incredible theme, thanks for the hard work.January 17, 2013 at 12:04 pm #103500
Hi. Its possible to have some images 300×200 and other 200×300 and yet others 300×300 on the same shop archive/category pages. So whether you want a square, a portrait or landscape it will all work fine as long as each image that you upload is in the same aspect ratio 3:2, 2:3, 1:1.
Simply add 300×300 as the constraints using the plugin Devin mentioned, and turning off the cropping will do it. But images you upload must be (a) larger than the constraint. (b) in same aspect ratio as the constraint .Prep the images first to get best results.

Just FYI, I think part of the problem I was having was that the theme’s sizes for portfolio and portfolio_small were not the same aspect ratio as one another, and did not match, therefore, the size listed in the instructions. So even when I tried to make do with the built in sizes, my items were getting cropped even though I was making them match the documentation. It seems to me, that since some portfolio items may show up in larger sizes and other times, such as on the front page, in smaller, that the two sizes should be the same ratios.
On the other hand, this seems like an issue you’d never miss, so perhaps it’s just me not understanding something…anyway the plugin got me fixed up, thanks so much for that tip.January 21, 2013 at 3:11 pm #103502
