portfolio items when you click say 404 not found, please help
they can be previewed when it has draft or pending review status but once published not working

Try going to your wordpress Settings>Permalinks and changing the option to default. If that fixes the issue, you'll need to go through the wordpress troubleshooting steps to see if you can get permalinks working: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Using_.22Pretty.22_permalinks
