I’ve been working on a portfolio of videos for a personal website but I’ve encountered some problems. The video pages themselves are loading well and the videos from Vimeo are playing back without issue. Here’s an example of one such portfolio post that I’m trying to link up to the main Video Portfolio page: http://carletontorpin.com/portfolios/slow-motion-movie/
The main issue I’m seeing is that the main portfolio page is not displaying the thumbnails for the videos. It’s actually not loading anything at all, which you can see by visiting the page here: http://carletontorpin.com/videos/
The strange thing is that, while experimenting, I was able to get some of the thumbnails to appear on page 2 of the portfolio page. The first and third pages just displayed that loading graphic. From a technical standpoint, I set this page up exactly as I did for my other one already on the site (which used static images).
So my question is what can I do to hook my videos up to my portfolio page?October 26, 2012 at 4:50 pm #95123
I have no idea how that happen or why. Got a real mystery. However the two pages are far from identical, one is a dynamic template the other one is not. Also one had 3 videos and the other one has just one. Please add this code to Quick CSS in the backend of the theme, or to your custom.css file
opacity: 1 !important;

Thanks for the reply and suggestion Nick. I’ve pasted the CSS mod into my Quick CSS area of the theme. As far as I can see, there is no change after the addition (and after I’ve cleared my browser cache).
Anything else I can do to make this work?October 29, 2012 at 3:22 pm #95125
How is it that you are adding the video into the portfolio item? Have you tried to use a placeholder image instead of loading in the video alone? You can click on the little video icon in the featured media area to add an image to it. Give that a try and see if it helps.
If you can create a temporary admin account and send me the login details I’ll take a look at how its set up and see if I can spot what is causing the issue.
You can send the information to my email at DevinVinson (at) gmail.com. Make sure to include a link to this topic so that my spam filter doesn’t grab it :)

Thanks for the reply Devin,
The custom thumbnails were briefly used for the videos. I tried a few and they worked sometimes but not others. I did notice that I had to change the vimeo URL’s to their non secure structure (http instead of https). That helped the actual portfolio posts themselves display properly, though still not on the top level portfolio page.
I also went ahead and finished reuploading the JS folder. I also reuploaded the Sentence theme on top of the old one (through FTP, not WP’s dashboard).
The problem still persists. Any thoughts?November 2, 2012 at 1:23 pm #95127
I’ve forwarded the issue on to another of the support crew to take a look at as I was not able to figure out what was causing the issue either. The videos are loading but the placeholder loading frame isn’t going away.
Hopefully with another pair of eyes on it, we’ll be able to move forward quickly.
