What is the advantage of making a page a portfolio page vs a regular page? I don’t get it.

Say I am going to have a WORK page to show examples of projects. I am going to make it a masonry grid/gallery.

Each element links to an individual page.

What would be the advantage of making that page a portfolio page vs a regular page?

I can see the value of posts but don’t quite get why a page might be better as a portfolio page?

    Thx in advance.

    Hey fgrippe!

Posts are meant for archived data. They are the only thing in WordPress that will be able to be sorted by date by default. So news, blog posts, things like that should be posts.

Posts will also not have the Avia Layout Builder on them because of this. So if you want more advanced layouts then Portfolio items are the way to go.

Pages can hold just about anything. You can have post grids, portfolio grids, images, video etc. Portfolio items are identical in that regard but can also be sorted by the portfolio taxonomy so they have their own category groupings.

    Regards,
    Devin

    Thx Devin.

So the only difference with portfolio pages and regular pages is that portfolio pages are more sortable and categorizable?

Is there any SEO advantage to using the portfolio pages because of this?

There is no difference that I know of between them.
