In the theme Angular, I am using the portfolio feature to display projects with many different categories (i.e. building types for an architect client)
I’ve also created portfolio entries for the client’s personnel (staff, associates, interns..) and want to have this displayed on a separate page ‘Team’ using a custom template with portfolio elements that only show those specific categories.
Everything is working fairly well except the links for next and previous entries are showing portfolio entries that are not intended to be displayed in either scenario. So on the Projects page, I see staff members profiles as options for next and previous AND on the Team page, I see projects coming up for next and previous.
Is there a way to set those next/previous links to filter and display only the selected portfolio categories – on Single portfolio entries.
I tried to edit loop-portfolio-single.php. Somewhere in this code.
<div class='post_nav extralight-border'>
<?php previous_post_link('<span class="previous_post_link">← %link </span><span class="post_link_text">'.__('(previous entry)'))."</span>"; ?>
<?php next_post_link('<span class="next_post_link"><span class="post_link_text">'.__('(next entry)').'</span> %link →</span>'); ?>
</div> <!-- end navigation -->
My reference is this http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/next_post_link. Unfortunately, it is not working. I know this is the answer to your problem but I think I am missing something.
Let me tag the rest of the support team to help us out. :)
Unfortunately this is not easily possible. You’d need to write a custom function for this task. We discussed this issue around 2 weeks ago: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/portfolio-previousnext-entry-in-same-category
