I read in the documentation file that if i want a portfolio featured image i have to insert it in the featured media.I tried it and the result is not good for me.I want to have a featured image like 200*200px and with this method the portfolio page is ok but when i enter the portfolio item the image is huge.I edited the functions.php for the portfolio images but i couldnt find a way for this.Is there a way to insert a featured image without showing it in the portfolio item page but showing in the portfolio main page???

I'm also looking for a solution to reduce the size of the image into the portfolio item page...

You can change the slideshow/image dimensions in functions.php (I'd only adjust the height value). Afterwards regenerate the thumbnails with: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

Eg if you want to use a fixed height of 300px change following line:

$avia_config['imgSize']['fullsize'] 		 	= array('width'=>930, 'height'=>930, 'crop'=>false);		// big images for lightbox and portfolio single entries

to:

$avia_config['imgSize']['fullsize'] 		 	= array('width'=>930, 'height'=>300, 'crop'=>true);		// big images for lightbox and portfolio single entries
