I was working on a site last night with this theme. I was working on adding new photos to the slideshow on the homepage. When I went back to the browser to refresh my screen and see the changes, the portfolio section was gone. When I went to the portfolio settings, I was unable to select the home page as the location . What could I have done to change this, and how can I fix it?January 14, 2013 at 4:46 pm #103156
Have you added any new plugins recently or made changes to your wordpress database?
If you can provide a link to the site we can take a look to see if anything on the live side sticks out. Otherwise, we’ll need some additional details as just from that description I don’t know what could have happened.

Hi Devin, I need to meet my client at 4 after a failed meeting this morning (dns problems) – is there any way you can help?
i didn’t have to do anything when i first set up the site. th eonly change I made is i added my name to the footer.php, then removed it…January 15, 2013 at 6:46 pm #103158
i forgot to add, I added no plug-ins at all. the one thing I did was go to footer.php and add my credentials to the footer. I have since deleted the theme and re-uploaded it twice and I STILL can’t get the portfolio section to appear on the front page, I can see in the template builder that it is there, I created a portfolio page and can see that page itself working fine, but I can’t see it on the home page, and I don’t know what to do. Re-installing a theme is about as much as one can do to bring it all back to defaults and start over…. still, it’s not working.January 16, 2013 at 3:33 pm #103159
What do you mean you can’t see it on the home page? In the home pages template or menu or what?
If you can define the issue further and create a temporary admin account for me I’ll log in and take a look.
You can send the information to my email at DevinVinson (at) gmail.com. Make sure to include a link to this topic so that my spam filter doesn’t grab it :)

I had to get a developer to come in and have a look at what happened, im not sure what he did to fix it but it works now. The problem was, I had followed the instructions to create a portfolio page and portfolio items and i added that element to the home page. It was working fine. I could see a 3-column portfolio on the front page fine – but I went to add my name to the footer.php and when I went back to the home page and refreshed the portfolio was no longer there. I had made no changes to the front page layout. no matter what I did, the settings were all fine, so I deleted coherence and re-installed it to no avail. I removed my name from the footer.php, nothing changed. In the end I had to get a developer involved.January 21, 2013 at 5:30 pm #103161
Any ideas what he did? The only thing that I’ve seen that sounds similar is when a post title/portfolio title had an error in its database entry and when it was attempted to be called it caused similar symptoms to what you’ve described.
Additionally, it could have been a corruption of the coherence data so even when re-installing it was still trying to pull the corrupted Coherence options. Just some thoughts but no way to know for sure without some more information on what was changed to finally get it working for you.
