I’m struggling to sort out a problem concerning the content of some of the pages appearing twice.
here is an example for this :
the page uses the shortcode for wordpress-faq [faq]
a Gravity Forms shortcode.
The other example is here :
using the shortcode for [testimonials]
thanks for any suggestions

I just to ask some few things, so maybe I can replicate the issue on my end,
1.) Are you using a template builder for these pages? and what are the templates set for these pages?
2.) Are these issues appear only on pages that uses those plugin shortcodes?

the template builder is not use on these pages and the problem only seems to appear on those 2 pages.
thanks for your reaction.

Do you use those plugin shortcodes you mentioned on other pages of your site? or just on those 2 pages? just checking out if this is somehow related to the plugin you are using.

Try to create a new template for each page using the template builder then insert the shortcode on Text Area / Callout / Quotes element. Assign the new templates on each page, don’t forget to delete the shortcode on the editor for each pages.

this helped but i have lost the jQuery collapse / expand functionality (on the FAQ page).
can you advise on where I should refer to that within the framework ?

So you are using a plugin to display the FAQ and the themes shortcode for the collapsing/expanding content?
An additional step I would recommend is to switch the theme to one of the wordpress default themes like Twenty Eleven and see if the two plugins work together at that point. Perhaps its an between the two and unrelated to the theme and it would be a good idea to rule it out if it isn’t.
