With regards to the Choices theme, at this page here http://www.kriesi.at/themes/choices/blog/ there is a post titled “This is a standard post format with preview Picture”
How would you prevent the image from getting ‘letterboxed’. i.e. when you click through onto the blog post, the image is rectangular with both the bottom and top of the image cropped considerably however when you click on the image to make it ‘full size’ the image is the correct ratio.
We have both the Choices theme and Flagship themes and we experience the same cropping on our sites. A current work around that we perform, is to crop before upload the dimensions of the slideshow image to 600px wide x 400px high. This ensures that ths image is not cropped incorrectly however this creates an unwanted effect where is you post additional images ‘inline’ inside the post, the first image of the slideshow that appears when in full screen is actually smaller than the rest of the images (and we would prefer to be using larger images of size 960px wide when in full screen).
Note: All our images get cropped to within a maximum size of 960px wide and 640px high.
For example blog posts on our live site, please see here (Choices Theme):
On a staging site here (Flagship Theme):
Even when setting the “Slideshow Layout on Single Pages” option in the post to be “Adjust to page Layout” this issue still occurs.
Have searched the support forums for this and similar issues and attempted some quick-css changes however have had no luck. Any assistance with this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks Michael.June 18, 2013 at 5:59 am #125292
You can deactivate the cropping function – in functionsphp replace:
$avia_config['imgSize']['featured'] = array('width'=>990, 'height'=>400 ); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider
$avia_config['imgSize']['featured'] = array('width'=>990, 'height'=>400, 'crop'=>false ); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider
and regenerate the thumbnails with http://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ – then you should be able to use imaages with other dimensions too.June 19, 2013 at 2:49 am #125293June 19, 2013 at 5:40 am #125294
