    Hello Kriesi Team,

I’m using latest Abundance and WooCommerce versions. Product option in template builder is set on a dynamic template assigned to a page.

I have set the Default Product Sorting in WC Catalog to be: Default sorting (custom ordering + name) so that I can have control on sorting products manually.

The issue is that the product carousel is showcasing the bottom 10 of the products in any sorted category rather than the first 10 which I am showcasing at the top of the product page and eventually I want to include in the slider.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you a lot in advance!

    Hi Bill Karkavos,

The best thing to do if you want more control would be to add a specific category called Featured or something like that and then put those products you want to highlight into that category so that the slider only shows that category on the front page instead of trying to filter from all of the products in your main categories.

There are some sorting options available for the slider but they are listed in the element in the template builder so if those aren’t what you are looking for the above is your best option.

    Regards,

    Devin

Hi, I had the same problem and did what you suggested, only how do I actually get the products in the new category “Featured” to show on front page?

    Hello Devin,

Actually this is what I m currently doing but the Featured category products are more than 10; so the homepage product carousel only showcases the bottom 10 of them while I actually want the first 10 of this category’s products to be included in the product carousel.

tried to implement this suggestion http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/change-sorting-in-the-product-slider-on-frontpage

but did not find the suggested code to replace in the relevant php file.

Isn’t this doable somehow via code?

Thank you very much for your help so far,

    Best,

    Bill

With this option the idea is to never have more than the amount of featured products. So each time you add a new product as featured, you remove the oldest one from the category.

In the front page template builder template you just need to add a Products element and select the featured category. Then set the option for “Shop Slider Row” to Yes.

    Hey Devin,

actually as I have said before this is not ideal for me cause I want to be more flexible and use different product carousels in different pages showcasing items from different product categories. And because I am using the custom ordering option in WC to sort my products in each category I just think that it would be sensible that the product carousel will showcase the products in the exact same sorted order.

With the solution you suggest still the last product in the featured category shows up as first on the product carousel so this is not desirable; order in showcasing products does matter even on the product carousel. Hope I am communicating this correctly,

Thank you for you help so far,

    Best,

    Bill

    Bill,

I remember you from a while back. You should upgrade to the Enfold theme. Abundance is great but Enfold is on the next level, the backend is cutting edge stuff. http://www.kriesi.at/themes/enfold/

It makes sense for different product carousels in different pages showcasing items from different product categories would all showcase the products sorted by the custom ordering option you set in WC for categories.

Please try this plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/post-types-order/ , it should do the trick globally.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hello Nick,

always glad to exchange messages with you; and yes yesterday night I actually found a solution.

I have actually solved this by getting the Advanced Post Types Order plugin here:

    http://www.nsp-code.com/premium-plugins/wordpress-plugins/advanced-post-types-order/

and the related to woo-commerce post:

    http://www.nsp-code.com/woocommerce-sort-products-which-belong-to-multiple-categories/

letting you also to sort each product category independently AND have the product carousels obey and showcase the first 10 sorted products on each product category (and not the last 10).

the link to the free version: http://wordpress.org/plugins/post-types-order/

I will take a more serious look on Enfold for sure,

Thank you very much for your help,

    Best,

    Bill
