The overlay buttons are a cool feature in Kriesi's themes.
However they can also frustrate users who are used to just clicking an image to be taken to a product page.
I suggest enabling both options, so that if the image is clicked it takes the user to the product page.
So I'm looking for where I need to make the change.
I looked in the woocommerce-mod.js file but don't see it. Can someone let me know where to look (and maybe what code to add / change) ?

To be honest, I'm not sure if this can be done without a major edit of the template files themselves. I'm flagging this for the rest of the support team to see if they know.

Try to replace following code in woocommerce-config/config.php:

echo get_the_post_thumbnail( get_the_ID(), 'shop_catalog' );

width: 100%;
height: 100%;
