I added a Featured Image to a Portfolio Item entry, but can’t edit or remove the featured image size in the post or thumbnail.
Could you tell me how to edit it or remove it completely from the post and edit the thumbnail?
Also, it appears that I cannot use the Set Featured Image in the Add Media area for the Portfolio posts. Is this because the Propulsion Featured Image disables it?

When you add your image to a portfolio item via the Featured media you aren’t adding an image that is editable. Its supposed to be the largest displayed size of the item and the theme then creates thumbnails based on it.
So if you need to edit an image, you would do it on your computer and the remove the current featured media item(s) and upload the new one(s).
And yes, the set featured image gets set by the theme as the first item in the featured media list.

Thanks for your response. I tried editing the image in PS to a lower size, but it becomes pixelated. Cropping is ok for the thumbnail, but its way too big for the sub-portfolio page. Here is the link:
Since I want the thumbnail on the main portfolio page linking to separate photo albums, this won’t work for me.
Can I use a third party portfolio plugin, and if so, can I disable Propulsion’s portfolio?

I’m not sure what you mean. You would need to make the image a larger size and then use that for the portfolio item. A good size is something like http://www.kriesi.at/themes/propulsion/files/2011/03/mockup10.jpg which is 930×340.
If you wanted to use something else in place of the theme’s portfolio you would just need to find a plugin that does what you are looking for and not use the theme’s Portfolio post type.
