    http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/what-are-the-best-practice-image-sizes-for-slider-media-and-portfolio-entries

    You replied to myself and another user re images issues in the above thread however this has not solved my issue. You were kind enough to suggest the following replacement code to be applied to function.php

    array(‘width’=>930, ‘height’=>930, ‘crop’=>true

    I’m simply trying to create a slider on the front of Propulsion that uses a size 930 x 25 or thereabouts instead of the height changing with each slide that loads and the home page bobbing up and down. No matter what settings I revise in the Propulsion admin or in function PHP I dont get the correct result. I have regenerated the thumbnails each time and that has not helped either.

    Its not an issue I have previously encountered and it seems that no one else has this problem (im running the latest copies of the approved plug-ins, the latest copy of Propulsion and woocommenrce)

    I dont really want to have to go to the extent of creating fixed pixel width images in Photoshops just to get around this issue with the home slider. The theme is nicely structured and I’ve had few other issues with creating the site but this is stumping me. Can you help?

    Many thanks

    Martin

    Hi Martin,

    You would need to change that array to (the numbers are the width and height you want the thumbnails to be created to upon upload):

    array('width'=>930, 'height'=>25, 'crop'=>true

    In order for the images to be cropped to smaller height, the height has to be specified by the function. I apologize if you’ve already taken that step, it just seems like that might be the case :)

    I think I have already taken that step. To be sure I copied in a clean version of the function.php then adjusted it as shown where I want the hight of the slider images on the home page to be, say 250,and to be cropped so that they will be no larger. I then regenerated the images and still I get the same result.

    Here is the code – is there anything obvious that im not doing? I can let you have access if you need?

    Many thanks

    Martin

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>36, ‘height’=>36 ); // small preview pics eg sidebar news

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>630, ‘height’=>999, ‘crop’=>true); // big images for post format image and gallery posts

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>930, ‘height’=>250, ‘crop’=>true); // big images for lightbox and portfolio single entries

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>930, ‘height’=>340); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>450, ‘height’=>335); // images for portfolio entries (2,3,4 column)

    //dynamic columns

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>446, ‘height’=>151); // images for 2/4 (aka 1/2) dynamic portfolio columns when using 3 columns

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>609, ‘height’=>210); // images for 2/3 dynamic portfolio columns

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>688, ‘height’=>151); // images for 3/4 dynamic portfolio columns

    avia_backend_add_thumbnail_size($avia_config);

    Hi Martin,

    I believe the line you want to add the crop to is this one (the one you currently have is for the lightbox and portfolio single entries):

    $avia_config = array(‘width’=>930, ‘height’=>340); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider

    Give that a try, regenerate thumbnails or create a new slider entry and let us know if that solves it for you.

    Hi Devin, With a little fiddling and replacing the function.php (again) I seem to have it working – thanks to your help!

    Looking forward to the updates that Kriesi spoke of last week!

    Thanks again

    Martin
