I can’t seem to move the widget panels in Appearance / Widgets when setting up a sidebar (I can move the elements inside each separate panel, but not the container panel itself). So how do I change the order in which the different widget groups appear in the sidebar?

Also, at the top of the list is the Displayed Everywhere widget panel. But the two widgets I have in there do not appear first in the sidebar.

    What is going on? Thanks!

    Hi,

It doesn’t what order the Widget Areas are because they won’t affect the actual sidebar. I think what you need to do is to go to Theme Options > Sidebar then create a new Widget Area for a specific page. After that go back to Appearance > Widget and notice a new widget area has been created for a specific page.

I’ve already done that Ismael, but I can only change the order of the widget elements inside each widget panel. There is no way to change the position order of the widgets that appear in Displayed Everywhere when those are added to the page widgets.

Update: Ok I guess I’m just going to have to forget “Dispalyed Everywhere” and actually put those widgets inside each separate widget panel.

    Thanks Ismael

    Hi rumblefish,

Yes that is correct. WordPress has a way in which it loads in specific widget groups and the only way that I know of to overcome this is to have widget areas defined for the specific pages.
