Instead of having icons for the Popular and Recent posts, is there a way to pull a featured image, or at least an image from the post?

Please go to Appearance > Widgets and add “Flagship Latest News” widget to any needed widget area.

I’m sorry, I believe I misspoke. The widget I’m talking about is the Sentence Combo Widget – under the tabs “Popular” and “Recent,” it displays an icon based on what type of post it is – Image, Video, etc. – but I would like to replace those icons with a thumbnail of an image pulled from the post. Normally I’d say it could be pulled from the featured image, but since I don’t see a place for that in this theme, I was hoping there would be another way.
Thanks!March 4, 2014 at 12:05 am #231915
You have posted under Flagship theme and not Sentence theme so i thought you were using Flagship
You can add Featured media to blog posts in Sentence and they should be displayed in Combo Widget as shown in screenshot here http://i.imgur.com/9IpHd9N.jpg
Can you post the link to your website? We may need a temporary admin login as well

Oops, sorry! New to this.
The site is rebelem.com
That screenshot is pretty much what I’m looking to do. Two things: 1.) there isn’t anywhere in the widget to add the featured media, and 2.) when I installed the theme, I stopped seeing a place to add a featured image.March 4, 2014 at 12:15 am #231921
Do you mind creating a temporary admin login and posting it here privately so i can take a look?

Sorry for the delay. Are y’all still around? Looks like we’ve got like an 8 hour time difference, but if you’re still able to look at this, I’ll be happy to post an admin ID. Thanks again.March 4, 2014 at 8:59 am #232076
You can add featured image using the Featured Media > Add Image to Slidehow option. Usually, the first image that you added is going to be use as featured image.

I kept editing this post as I kept figuring stuff out and reading other threads, so I’m sorry if I’ve caused any confusion…
To clarify (since I messed up), I’m still talking about the Sentence theme.
I added featured images via the slideshow, but I had to use some custom CSS to keep the slideshow from displaying on the home page or the posts themselves; is there a more efficient way to do this? I don’t foresee ever using a slideshow on this site, so if there were a way to just hide it so that it won’t ever display, but I can keep the Featured Image thumbnail, that would be ideal.March 7, 2014 at 11:46 am #233695
No, in my opinion hiding the slideshow with css is the most flexible and best solution.

Well right now I use CSS to hide each individual post; is there CSS code that will hide the slideshow always, so I or the client don’t have to do it every time a new post is made?March 10, 2014 at 5:17 pm #234828
