    Hi

    In my portfolio section I simply want to show an image of a project and a very brief bit of text relating to it. Is there a way I can remove the “read more” button that links to a sperate page for each portfolio entry?

    i.e. I do not want a new page created for each portfolio entry plus I want to remove the “read more” button from beside each entry on the portfolio homepage…hope this makes sense!

    Hey,

    open up template_portfolio.php and search for following code:

    the_excerpt();

    echo "<a href='".get_permalink()."' class='more-link'>".__('Read more','avisio')."</a>";

    Replace it with:

    the_content();

    You can’t delete the portfolio pages though.

    Thanks Dude – will implement this tomorrow. – Will just block the portfolio pages from the search engines and that will be ok – users will have no other way to get to them anyway once the read more link is gone.

    Thanks again!

    How about only removing the read more button from selected portfolio entries?

    Thanks.

    Hey,

    what do you mean with “selected”? Do you refer to single portfolio entries (which are displayed after you click on “read more”) or do you want to remove the read more button for some portfolio entries only?

    I’d like to remove the ‘read more’ button underneath some portfolio entries only. See http://bht-design.org.uk/portfolio/ – I’d like to remove the button underneath the ‘sussedPR’ entry, as I really don’t have a post’s worth of info relating to this.

    Thanks.

    This can be done with post meta. In template_portfolio.php replace:

    echo "<a href='".get_permalink()."' class='more-link'>".__('Read more','avisio')."</a>";

    with:

    if ( ! get_post_meta($post->ID, "deactivate_permalink", true)){
    echo "<a href='".get_permalink()."' class='more-link'>".__('Read more','avisio')."</a>";
    }

    and set a post meta entry (with the id “deactivate_permalink” and any value – i.e. “yes” or “1”) for all portfolio entries which shouldn’t display a read more link.

    Works an absolute treat. Many many thanks for your excellent support with this theme! :-)
