I’m looking forward to using UpScale, as it’s the perfect theme for my site (and I’ve looked at several hundred).
I include an image in every post and page (somewhere in the content, often with captions). I am used to this automatically generating a thumbnail for excerpts. With the UpScale theme, I need to include the thumbnails manually, I guess, but I don’t want this image to be above the title for a post or page (only somewhere in the content, and as a thumbnail for excerpts).
So, how do I include an image for a post or page so that it acts as a thumbnail for excerpts, and is an image somewhere in the content, but NOT as an image at the top of a post/page?
I am hoping that there is an option or step that I’m overlooking, because if you suggest that I alter a code somewhere, be prepared for the world-wide-web to crash.
Thank you for the help.
Oh, one more thing for now. I like the rectangle “text box” on the upScale demo site’s home page. It has the words “Welcome to the upScale theme demo! this is a dynamic element!.” How do I get that feature exactly as it’s shown?July 29, 2011 at 9:26 am #49308
it’s not possible to use a content image as thumbnail. Only featured images (which can be displayed at the very top or bottom (or before the headline or after)) can be used as thumbnails. The reason is that the featured image (slider) needs some code to display correctly and this code is hardcoded. You can rearrange it (i.e. put it before or after headline) but you can’t put it inside your text content.July 29, 2011 at 5:15 pm #49309
Thank you for your reply.
You say that we can have the featured image either at the very top or bottom, or just under the header. Is that right, and how?
Also, can anyone explain how to get the rectangle “text box” from the upScale demo site’s home page. It has the words “Welcome to the upScale theme demo! this is a dynamic element!.” How do I get that feature exactly as it’s shown?
Thanks for the help.
upScale – I’m loving it!July 30, 2011 at 9:55 am #49310
Yes you can relocate the slider/image. Open up upscaleincludesloop-index.php and/or loop-page.php (first one is for posts, second one for pages) and search for following code:
//force to display small inline content slider on archive pages. Single pages and posts are allowed to display the 3d slider
$force_small_slider = true;
if(is_singular()) $force_small_slider = false;
$slider = new avia_slideshow(get_the_ID());
echo $slider->display_small('page', $force_small_slider);
You can move this code around, i.e. you can put it after:
<a href="<?php echo get_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="<?php _e('Permanent link:','avia_framework')?> <?php the_title(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
<?php the_content('<span class="inner_more">'.__('Read more','avia_framework').'</span>'); ?>
2) I answered the box question in another thread :)
