If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
I have a currency changing widget and would like it to live in the header of my page where the search bar is. I dont need the search bar so could happily replace it, and the widget would take up the same space as it is a dropdown menu.
Could anybody tell me what code i might have to change in the templates to get this to happen.
Its pretty straight forward if you are familiar with wordpress and coding for it but a good beyond being able to walk you through it via support. The basics of it are you’ll be registering a new widget area (same thing as a sidebar) with a function and then adding the widget area to be output in your header in place of the search.
Then you re-style the div as needed to still work for desktop, tablet and mobile. See: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_sidebar
