    Happy New Year.

    I am struggling to find where the ‘Order Notes’ may be in Replete theme Checkout page. I bought the WooCommerce Checkout Field Plugin to enable me to edit it. the plugin shows all the fields in the Checkout page but not the ‘Order Notes’ field! :-(

    1) Do you know which theme option will allow me to get to it so that I could edit it. I need to edit both the label as well as the placeholder text please.

    2) I also need to add an information field (box) in that page just above where the current ‘order Notes’ is. The text in that box will help the customer to provide the correct information which will go in the next field.

    Would you please help me with these. Thank you very much.

    Hi Nader-M!

    As far as I know the theme doesn’t modify the fields on the checkout or cart page. You can double check by switching to one of the default WordPress themes (twenty twelve, twenty thirteen etc).

    Best regards,
    Devin

    Hello,

    I am really struggling with this. Can anyone help please?
    I can edit all fields in the Woocommerce Billing Address (http://i.imgur.com/F6BY6UN.jpg) other than the ‘Order Notes’ (see the right hand side of the image please) which I cannot find where it is in order to edit it. I have created a new field at the bottom of the Billing Address ‘Your Vine ID’. It is added to the bottom of the form (http://i.imgur.com/YZmvtaf.jpg). But the right hand side column where the ‘Order Notes’ appear is still intact. I have bought and installed the Woocommerce Checkout Plugin. The plugin shows all the fields in the ‘Billing Address’ but not the ‘Order Notes’! http://i.imgur.com/rSIOAhc.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/aZfqdlE.jpg

    Does anyone know where the field ‘Order Notes’ is coming from and how can I get to it using the Dashboard please?

    Thank you!

    Hey!

    Your best bet is to contact the WooCommerce or “Checkout Plugin” author for help. You can use the support page here: http://www.woothemes.com/support/ to contact WooThemes and the “checkout plugin” author. As far as I know the order notes are saved as comments and will be displayed on the right side of the order edit screen (“Order Notes” settings box under the “Order Totals” box). You can’t edit them directly (you could manipulate the notes text with a database tool though) but you can delete an existing note and add a new note with your custom text.

    Regards,
    Peter

    Ok, thank you. I have sent the query to WooCommerce. I’ll post their reply here in case their answer is useful to others.

    Best wishes

    Thank you Devin.

    This is what WooCommerce support has given me. I copy and paste it here just in case it is useful for some others as well.
    I have to say I love the Replete theme. It is possible to create such a beautiful site with it. It specially suits what I am trying to do.

    Kind regards

    Hooking into the woocommerce_checkout_fields filter will let you override any field. As a demonstration, lets try changing the placeholder on the order_comments fields. Currently its set to:

    _x(‘Notes about your order, e.g. special notes for delivery.’, ‘placeholder’, ‘woocommerce’)

    We can change this by adding a simple function to our theme functions.php file:

    // Hook in
    add_filter( ‘woocommerce_checkout_fields’ , ‘custom_override_checkout_fields’ );

    // Our hooked in function – $fields is passed via the filter!
    function custom_override_checkout_fields( $fields ) {
    $fields['order']['order_comments']['placeholder'] = ‘My new placeholder’;
    return $fields;
    }

    Thats it! You can override other parts too, like the labels:

    // Hook in
    add_filter( ‘woocommerce_checkout_fields’ , ‘custom_override_checkout_fields’ );

    // Our hooked in function – $fields is passed via the filter!
    function custom_override_checkout_fields( $fields ) {
    $fields['order']['order_comments']['placeholder'] = ‘My new placeholder’;
    $fields['order']['order_comments']['label'] = ‘My new label’;
    return $fields;
    }

    You can even remove fields entirely:

    // Hook in
    add_filter( ‘woocommerce_checkout_fields’ , ‘custom_override_checkout_fields’ );

    // Our hooked in function – $fields is passed via the filter!
    function custom_override_checkout_fields( $fields ) {
    unset($fields['order']['order_comments']);

    return $fields;
    }
