If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
We have a couple of categories in our news blog, to be able to filter through different news-categories.
At the blog we have the right sidebar with some widgets. But when selecting a specific category, the sidebar disappears.
I have tried to assign widget areas to the categories, but it doesn’t work either.
Strange – can you post a link to the category archive page please. Maybe the code helps us to locate the problem.
Here’s the link to our News category (Nyheter in swedish).
I’m not sure why this didn’t get responded to earlier, but I looked into this while addressing another issue of yours.
It seems the Category right sidebar will only work when the default setting for the right sidebars is set to Yes. This means that the other pages will all have the sidebar on by default as well. What you’ll need to do, is in the Layout options on the right hand side of the page and post editor, set the option for the sidebar to “No right sidebar” if you do not want one on that post or page. For example, your Red Dot post I turned the option to No right sidebar to keep it looking the way it was previously.
Hi Devin, Thanks alot for looking into this as well! Now I get it! Works fine.
Again, thanks for you help!
