I have translated the text via .po, creating a .mo .
all other text (follow us on twitter etc.) works fine, but the "search site" inside the search area in the top-right of the site still says "search site" instead of the translation.
Is there some code error, so that this is not translatable ?

Yes, I see now I'm able to edit the text directly in the theme file searchform.php. thanks.
BUT..... in the default.po there's a translatable text called "Search site" - is the translatable text not supposed to be used in searchform.php ?
(meaning: is this not an error, should this not be corrected in the next update of the theme ?) ...
