I do not have the "set thumbnail" option on my dashboard - all i have is the set featured image. what do i do to get the set thumbnail option? Also all of my featured images are incredibly stretched and my thumnails are all squashed, how do i fix these distortions?

Are you sure the widget for creating a post isn't collapsed? You might try re-installing the theme to see if that helps.
If they are stretched you might not be uploading a big enough image.

I have the same situation, how do I know if the widget for creating a post is collapsed?
Also I can't make any thumbnail and the accordion slider work.
