    I am trying to figure out how to show the featured image for an event in the event listing pages. for example http://192.185.141.247/~monadnoc/events/category/adult-family/

    Each of those events have a featured image that show up when you click on them but I would like to see the image in the listings just as you would in a blog listing format. How can I go about doing that? I am not a php coder but can certainly edit what is existing with a bit of guidance.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi monadnock!

    1) Please update your theme Incarnation to version 2.0. You’re using 1.3.

    2) Then insert this code into the child theme functions.php or incarnation/functions.php file:

    add_action('tribe_events_before_the_event_title','avia_output_featured_image', 10);
    function avia_output_featured_image(){
    the_post_thumbnail( "large" );
    }

    You can replace “large” with another thumbnail size like “widget”, “slider_thumb”,”featured”, “portfolio”, “full” or “portfolio_small”.

    Thank you for getting back to me. I did run the update, but did not edit the functions file yet. I installed a child theme originally so that I wouldn’t run into issues with updates, but the first thing that happened after updating was the countdown time went away on the top of the page and the social icons went with it.

    Interestingly, the countdown shows up for a few seconds and then disappears.

    Any thoughts? should I not use a child theme?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    A little update – I also added your code into the incarnation parent them functions file file and it showed up like this in the events listing page:
    Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘avia_output_featured_image’ was given in /home/monadnoc/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 470

    The page was http://192.185.141.247/~monadnoc/events/category/youth/

    Hey!

    Thank you for using the update.

    I edited Dude’s code a bit, see if it works:

    add_action('tribe_events_before_the_event_title','avia_output_featured_image', 10);
    function avia_output_featured_image(){
    the_post_thumbnail( "large" );
    }

    It is suggested that you use a child theme. Anyway, I checked the website on Chrome Windows 8 and I can see the countdown perfectly.

    Cheers!
    Ismael

    Ok guys this is what I noticed about the count down timer. If you go to any page that is NOT an event page, the time shows up. If you go to any event page (http://192.185.141.247/~monadnoc/events/category/youth/) the time clicks away.

    This happens with or without your new code. Any thoughts?
    It’s everything in the div clas: container_wrap container_wrap_header_meta stretch_full dark_bg_color

    Thanks for your help. You guys are great.

    Hey!

    Please insert this code into the quick css field to fix the issue:

    #top .container_wrap_header_meta {
    z-index: 4;
    }

    Regards,
    Peter
