I use the double column sidebar and have it set up with a different background color than the main background. Currently, the sidebar extends to accommodate the content located inside then stops.
I would like the sidebar to extend down to the bottom of the page, but can’t figure out how to do it. I have tried adding height:100% to the css in all areas concerning the sidebar, but still no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks.September 16, 2010 at 12:54 pm #34302
What’s the site URL?
One way to do this is to set the background colour as an image applied to the whole content area, make the sidebar area the correct colour and repeat the image down the page. This would ensure that the background extended the whole way down the page.

Yeah, I thought of the doing the background thing, I was just hoping there would be a more elegant solution. Any more ideas on how I could achieve this via css?September 17, 2010 at 2:17 pm #34304
Can you post the site URL?
I’ll take a look at what you’ve done so far and I’ll see what can be done to extend the background with CSS.

Sure thing, thanks James. The site is http://www.cjpwworld.com.
I did take your earlier suggestion and I am now using a background image in the main div as a workaround. However, I would prefer to lose the image and do it in code.
Thanks again.September 21, 2010 at 5:39 pm #34306
To be honest, I’d stick with the background image. This way you don’t have to worry about hacking the code to force the sidebar height to match the main content (or what if the sidebar was bigger than the main content???).
