Firstly, great theme. I love how flexible the homepage is.
The big issue I am having is with sidebars. I have a 45 page website but only about 5 different sidebars (i.e. most pages have the same sidebar). Do i really have to create 45 different sidebars through the broadscope theme options and individually put the widgets into each of them? As that is a long and ridiculous process, especially considering I’d have to input the individual settings of each widget over and over (i.e. the Broadscope Recent Posts widget which has about 5 different options). Surely there is a better way?
you can use this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/ to display widgets on some pages only. Just create all widgets in the display everywhere widget area and use the widget logic field to specify which widgets should display on some pages only.
Thanks for that. I will give that a try.
This is still quite a long process though, and If i ever change a page name its all over. Surely a better idea would be just to have 10 different sidebars then you allocate one to a page? With the ability to create more sidebars if needed.
Anyway, thanks for your help Dude.
For anyone else having this issue, i found the following plugin to be very useful
Just install, activate & edit the PHP as per the documentation (very easy). Remember not to remove the PHP under ‘sidebar_frontpage’ otherwise the widget area at the bottom of the homepage will become inaccessible.
Otherwise, this plugin achieves what I wrote in my post above and makes it much easier to manage sidebars on larger sites.
